First appeared in Robert Crowley&#8217;s 1548 pamphlet <em>The confutation of .xiii. articles, wherunto N. Shaxton[&#8230;]subscribed<\/em>, printed by or for John Foxe&#8217;s printer John Day. Shaxton had recanted and preached at Askew&#8217;s burning and he is shown here preaching from the makeshift pulpit near the stake.
